My name is Gabrielle Rose, and I live in Oakland, CA.

I am hugely inspired by the artists of the Golden Age of Illustration, such as Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, and Edmund Dulac, and Aubrey Beardsley. Growing up I loved J.R.R. Tolkien, and through his books was introduced to illustrator Pauline Baynes, and her influence cannot be overstated in my earliest attempts at developing a style. Anime is a growing influence in my art. I am also inspired by my childhood fears and nature. I am self-taught.

After starting a family (which grew very quickly and somewhat unexpectedly) in 2013, I had little time to create new work, but as my children become more independent I have been able to again create more work.
